Q: Do I need prior experience?

No. Beginners are welcome. You’ll need a high school diploma or GED by the time you graduate.

Q: Do I have to take a state exam?

Yes. At the 1,000-hour mark, Hyphen will generate your invitation to sit for the Florida State Board of Cosmetology exam.

Q: Is financial aid available?

We are in the process of accreditation with COMTA and are scheduled for March 2026. In the meantime, we offer interest-free payment plans: $600 at enrollment and the balance in monthly payments while you are in school—so you graduate without student debt.

We use the latest Milady textbooks. English: Milady Standard Cosmetology 14th Ed + Foundations Workbook Bundle (ISBN 978-0-357-87149-2). Cosmetology School Horizon West Structure

Hyphen’s Cosmetology Program is built for students with a busy schedule. Classes meet three days per week from Monday to Wednesday, 9am – 7pm. We are also building the waitlist for a class that runs from Wednesday to Friday, 9am – 7pm.

Lectures are delivered through our online eLearning platform, so in-person class time is focused on real practice with clients. Content is available in English and Spanish, and our instructors are fluent in both languages.

Cosmetology School Tuition - Horizon West

Tuition for Hyphen’s cosmetology school Horizon West is $7,995, which includes:

9 months of expert instruction (1,200 hours)

All Florida state board license and registration fees

Only $600 is due at enrollment. The remaining balance can be paid interest-free while you’re in school—around $850 per month.

Hyphen is not yet accredited and does not qualify for FAFSA. However, we do offer interest-free funding during your studies so you only need to pay $850 per month during your studies and you will graduate debt-free.
