School of Beauty in Orlando - Hyphen Beauty School

Hyphen Beauty in Orlando offers something most traditional beauty schools don't: flexibility without compromise. Whether you're working full-time, raising a family, or simply ready for a career change, our programs are designed to fit your schedule - at half the cost of peer schools.

At Hyphen, you can become a licensed cosmetologist, esthetician, nail technician, massage therapist, or full specialist in a fraction of the time and cost of other schools. We've stripped away the unnecessary lectures and classroom hours that inflate tuition at big-name beauty schools. Instead, we focus on what actually matters: hands-on training with real clients, taught by licensed professionals who know the Orlando market inside and out.

What Makes Hyphen Different from Other Schools of Beauty?

Most beauty schools follow the same outdated model: show up five days a week, sit through lectures you could learn online, and pay $15,000 to $20,000 for the privilege. Hyphen was built specifically to challenge that model.

  • Classes Only 2-3 Days Per Week – All of our programs only run 2 or 3 days per week so most students keep their existing jobs while going to school.

  • Online Learning That Actually Works – All your theory—anatomy, sanitation, product chemistry, state board prep—is delivered through our eLearning platform. You study on your own time, at your own pace. When you show up to campus, you're not wasting hours in a lecture hall. Your on-campus time is heavily focused on hands-on training.

  • Tuition That Won't Bury You in Debt – Here's the reality: at most schools of beauty in Florida, you'll pay $10,000 to $20,000 for your license. Even with financial aid, many students graduate owing thousands in loans. At Hyphen, our programs range from $3,590 for nail technology to $7,995 for cosmetology—often less than half what competitors charge. And we offer interest-free payment plans, so you graduate debt-free.

  • Small class sizes – We cap our cohorts to 20 students. That's not a marketing gimmick—it's how we ensure every student gets real attention from instructors. When you're learning to layer color or perform a Swedish massage, you need feedback. You need someone watching your technique and correcting mistakes before they become habits. In a class of 40 students, that doesn't happen. At Hyphen, it does..

  • Bilingual instruction – Courses available in English and Spanish.

  • High placement rate – Over 95% of Hyphen's students land great jobs within 3 months of graduation.

The Programs We Offer

Hyphen is more than just one program—we’re a complete beauty and wellness academy. Depending on your passion, you can choose from:

7 to 9 month program. Learn haircutting, coloring, styling, nail services, and basic skincare. Our cosmetology program prepares you for a wide variety of salon and spa careers.

2.5 month program. Focus on skincare with training in facials, waxing, makeup, and spa treatments. Perfect for those who love helping others achieve healthy, glowing skin.

2 month program. Specialize in manicures, pedicures, acrylics, gels, and nail art. Nail techs are in high demand in Orlando’s vibrant salon scene.

6 month program. Develop skills in Swedish, deep tissue, and sports massage. Massage therapists enjoy careers in spas, resorts, and wellness centers across Central Florida.

Flexible Schedules for Busy Lives

Most of our students are career changers or working adults. That’s why we designed our programs to fit your lifestyle. Instead of requiring you to be in school five days a week, our programs run just two or three days per week, with the rest supported by our eLearning platform.

This hybrid approach lets you balance school with your job, family, or other commitments—while still graduating on time. Most of Hyphen's students continue working while going to school.

Career Opportunities After Graduating from Our School of Beauty

Orlando is one of the best cities in America to launch a beauty career. Between the massive tourism industry, the growing population, and the high demand for personal services, licensed beauty professionals have endless opportunities:

  • Salon and Spa Careers - Work as a stylist, colorist, esthetician, nail tech, or massage therapist in one of Orlando's hundreds of salons and spas. Entry-level positions start around $30,000-$35,000, but experienced professionals with loyal clients can earn $50,000-$70,000 or more.

  • Resort and Hotel Spas - Orlando's hospitality industry is huge. From Disney properties to International Drive resorts, there's constant demand for licensed beauty and wellness professionals.

  • Freelance and Mobile Services - Many graduates prefer the freedom of working for themselves. Offer mobile hair and makeup for weddings, on-location massage therapy, or in-home nail services. You set your own schedule and keep 100% of your earnings.

  • Medical Spas and Dermatology Offices - Estheticians and massage therapists are increasingly hired by medical practices to offer services like chemical peels, microneedling, and therapeutic massage alongside medical treatments.

  • Salon Ownership - Once you've built experience and a client base, you can open your own salon or spa. Hyphen's programs include business training so you understand the fundamentals of running a successful beauty business.

Orlando’s thriving tourism and hospitality industry creates especially strong demand for beauty professionals. From resort spas to local salons, opportunities are everywhere.

FAQ

Do I need previous experience?

No. We will take you from beginner to licensed professional in a matter of months.

Do I have to take a state exam?

You do not need to take an external state board exam for Esthetics, Nail and Full Specialist. However, you will need a high school diploma or GED by graduation for Cosmetology and Massage.

Is financial aid available?

Federal grants only applies for programs that are above 600 hours. Since Florida only requires 220 hours for a Facial Specialist license and 180 hours for a nail license, federal funding does not apply for most schools in Florida.

We offer interest-free payment plans so you only need to pay $500-$600 at enrollment and the balance can be paid monthly while you are in school. You will not have any student debt when you graduate
