Hyphen Beauty School (formerly Florida Academy of Beauty) will prepare you from no experience to licensed Nail Technician working in a nail salon or an entrepreneur starting your own practice.
Hyphen has two specialized classes for Nails. All of our instructors are bilingual so you can take the course in English or Spanish.
Hyphen offers one of the top eLearning platforms for Nail Technology. This allows students to attend in-person only two days per week while continuing their studies through out the week via our eLearning platform.
All lectures and quizzes are delivered online so students maximize hands-on training when they are on campus.
While many schools “inflate” their teaching hours in order to charge more tuition, Hyphen follows Florida Department of Education’s 180-hour curriculum. This means that students can graduate and become licensed Nail Technicians in just 2 months as compared to other schools whose programs run +4 months long.
Even though students spend less time on campus and graduate faster, their knowledge and competency of their field surpasses Florida’s standards. Hyphen’s placement rate are consistently over 95% within three months of graduation.
The faster, more efficient instruction benefits the students by way of lower tuition. Hyphen’s Nail Technology program costs $3,495 while most Nails schools charge $7,000.
180 hours. If you attend classes two days per week from 9am to 7pm, you will complete the course within two months.
We have two slots for Nail Technician classes. Students can work with their instructor to set their schedules within these time slots (ex. daytime only or nighttime only):
We are also building the waitlist for a Nail Technician class on weekends (Sat & Sun from 9am to 7pm). If you are interested in this timeslot, please select the WAITLIST option when booking your tour.
Spanish-speaking students are welcome as our eLearning platform can deliver content in Spanish based on your preference. Our instructors speak fluent Spanish.
At the end of the course, you will test with our lead instructors in the school. You do not need to sit for an external state exam.
No prior experience needed. Students must have a high school diploma or GED by the time they graduate from Hyphen.
$3,495. This includes two months of instruction, a nail kit, apron, all state board license and registration fees. We use the latest edition of Milady’s Nail Technology textbook which can be purchased via Amazon. The ISBN number is listed below in the FAQ.
Only $500 is due at enrollment. The balance of tuition can be spread out over the two month program. This equates to $990 per month until graduation. You will get a free set of Milady textbooks if you signup and pay in full using cash, check or Zelle
Federal student grants and loans do not apply for any 180 hour Nail Technician program in the State of Florida. This is because federal funding only applies to programs above 600 hours. However, most students will attest that this program is one of the best bang-for-your-buck programs in Orlando. Most students recoup their tuition within three months after graduation when working in a salon.
With a nail technician license, you are ready to work at a nail salon or to start your own salon. Once you have secured your license, it is highly recommended that you continue with your Full Specialist license as many nail salons value the versatility of employees who can add brow and eye lash services at their salon.
And picture your next career evolution
We have a new Nail Technology class starting every month. Please contact admissions to find out our next monthly start date.
As long as you cover all of the topics in the wheel, you can plan out your schedule with your instructor. For instance, if you can only attend the English class at nights, you should be able to complete the wheel within 4 months.
Federal financial aid only applies for programs that are above 600 hours. Since Florida only requires 180 hours for a Nail Specialist license, federal funding does not apply for the nail program in most schools in Florida.
We offer payment plans so you only need to pay $500 at enrollment and the balance can be paid in monthly installments of $990.
We use the latest Milady textbooks. Please bring the books (or e-books) to your first day of class:
You are welcome to book a tour of the school at the footer of this page. Alternatively, please call our admissions staff at (888) 828 8819 so they can arrange a tour and block off 5-minutes with your future instructor.
