Nail Tech School in Orlando, FL
Two months. That's the whole thing.
Nail tech is the fastest route into a licensed beauty career in Florida, and most people don't realize how short the runway actually is. Our nail tech school in Orlando runs 180 hours over two months. Classes meet two days a week at our Winter Park campus, and tuition is $3,690 with interest-free payment plans.
We're also the only accredited school in the area that runs nails as its own standalone program. Everywhere else, nails are a unit inside a cosmetology course, which means you sit through hair and skin hours you didn't come for. Here, you learn nails, and you're done in two months.

What You Learn in 180 Hours
The technical work
Manicures and pedicures, gel and acrylic application, shaping, fills, tips and extensions, and safe removal. Removal matters more than beginners expect. It's where most damage happens, and it's what separates a nail technician clients come back to from one they don't.
Sanitation, safety and nail health
You learn what a healthy nail bed looks like, how to spot infection or fungus, and when to stop and refer a client to a doctor. You also learn proper sanitation procedures to the standard Florida inspectors look for. This is the part that protects you and your clients from infection.
Salon skills
Consultation, pricing your services, booking, retail, and how to keep a client on a rebooking rhythm. A tech with a full book and a tech with an empty one often have the same hands. The difference is usually everything in this section.
You'll also work on speed. A set that takes you two hours in week three needs to take about an hour by the time you're charging for it, and that only comes from repetition on real hands under a clock.

How the Program Works
Theory online, hands-on at the campus
Lectures and quizzes are available at any time through Hyphen's eLearning platform, which is available in English and Spanish. You do that work on your own schedule, which is why the campus portion only needs two days a week.
Two days a week on campus
Your practical training happens at our Winter Park campus at 501 Wymore Rd, facing I-4 at the Lee Road exit. Two days a week is a schedule most people can build around a job.
Classes are capped at 20 students.

Practice on real clients
Once you're ready, you'll take on real clients by appointment. Working on a paying client puts your skills to the test rather than continued work on a practice hand. You want to learn it while an instructor is still watching.

Your kit
Hyphen's Young Nails kit and nail drill are included in your tuition. You leave with your own tools rather than a list of things to buy before you can take your first client.

Getting Registered in Florida
Florida handles nails through registration rather than a state board exam. According to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, you complete a nail specialty program at a Florida school of cosmetology, then submit your nail specialty registration application to the Department with the fee. There's no written or practical state exam for the nail specialty, which is part of why nails is the fastest path to licensure in Florida.
Our program is 180 hours.

How long it takes to become a nail tech in Orlando
Why Students Pick Hyphen
- Nails as its own program. We're the only accredited school in the area offering a standalone nails program. You're not paying for hair and skin hours to get a nail registration.
- Two months, 180 hours. The shortest path to a licensed beauty career in Florida.
- $3,690, Hyphen's Young Nails kit and nail drill included. Interest-free payment plans mean you pay $1,047 a month for 3 months after a $550 deposit.
- Two days a week. Built for people who already have a job or kids or both.
- Spanish support throughout. The eLearning platform runs in English and Spanish, and most instructors are fluent in both English and Spanish.
- 90 to 95% job placement. Orlando has one of the largest nail tech job markets in Florida, and our graduates work in salons, resort spas and nail studios across Central Florida.
- Small classes. You get instructor time and a real seat, not a spot at the back of a lecture hall.

What Tuition Covers
Tuition is $3,690 for all 180 hours. That includes your Hyphen Young Nails kit and your nail drill, and there's no separate charge for salon floor hours. Textbooks are purchased separately so that students may choose e-books or shop for printed books online.
Payment plans are interest-free. Most students pay $1,047 a month for 3 months after a $550 deposit rather than financing through an outside lender.
Your state registration fees are included in your tuition.

Where to Go After You're Registered
Plenty of graduates start working the month they get registered and leave it there. Others keep building.
Advanced nail art and gel extensions is our follow-on class for techs who want to charge more per set. It covers advanced gel extension work, shaping and detailed art.
Advanced Nail Art and Gel Extensions
The Full Specialist program combines nails and skincare in 600 hours, so you can offer facials and waxing alongside your nail services. It's the common next move for nail techs who want a wider menu.
Want both? Full Specialist covers nails and esthetics and costs $1,480 less than taking the two programs separately.
Career services are free for every student, and we teach business classes for graduates who want to rent a room or open their own studio. Hyphen offers all graduates ten free sessions using its service rooms and equipment under Hyphen's salon license, helping them start their own salon or spa rent-free.

Serving Orlando and Central Florida
Our campus faces I-4 at the Lee Road exit, three miles north of downtown Orlando. Because classes only meet two days a week, students commute from much farther out than you'd expect for a beauty program.
Kissimmee and St. Cloud students come up through the resort corridor, which is also where a lot of them end up working. Clermont, Ocoee and Apopka students come in from the west. Sanford, Deltona and Oviedo students come down I-4 from the north.
Orlando is a good market to get registered in. Resort and hotel spas hire. So do the salons around Winter Park and Baldwin Park, and the studios spread through Kissimmee and the tourist corridor. There's steady demand for techs who can do quality gel and acrylic work. That's the market your two days a week are training you for.
