What will you learn

Hyphen School will train you to become a HVAC Technician in 4 months. Classes run two days per week, which allow our students to continue working during their training as a HVAC Technician.

This program will build your foundational base as a HVAC Technician and prepare you for apprenticeship. After the four month program, you will continue your learnings on the job. At the 8,000 hour mark, you will have earned the required experience hours to become a licensed HVAC Contractor in the State of Florida.

Why Hyphen is Different

Hyphen offers one of the top eLearning platforms for HVAC. Students attend in-person only two days per week while continuing their studies via our eLearning platform. All lectures and quizzes are delivered online so students maximize hands-on training when they are on campus.

While many schools require students to spend 4 to 5 days per week on campus, Hyphen's eLearning platform allows students to graduate faster with less days in school. This means that students can graduate and become a HVAC Technician within 4 months as compared to other schools whose programs are 12 - 24 months long. Even though students spend less time on campus and graduate faster, their knowledge and competency of their matches those of students who study full time for 12 to 24 months. Hyphen's placement rate is consistently over 95% within 3 months of graduation.

The faster, more efficient program means lower tuition for students. Hyphen's HVAC Technician program costs $6,165 while most technical schools charge over $18,000 for their HVAC Technician program.

Course Duration

300 hours.  Class instruction runs Saturday to Sunday from 9am to 7pm. We are also building the waitlist for a class that runs Monday to Tuesday from 9am to 7pm.

Prerequisites

No prior massage experience needed. You must have a high school diploma or GED by the time you graduate.

Total Tuition

$6,165. This includes 4 months of instruction, a $1,165 HVAC Technician kit, all state board license and registration fees. We use the latest edition of Cengage's HVAC Technician textbook which you can purchase from Amazon. The ISBN numbers are listed below in the FAQ.

Only $1,350 is due at enrollment.  The balance of tuition can be spread out over the 4 month program.  This equates to $1,190 per month until graduation. 

We do not offer federal student loans or financial aid. However, most students will attest that this program is one of the best bang-for-your-buck programs in Orlando. Most students recoup their tuition within six months after graduation when working as a HVAC Technician or as a handyman.

There is a dire shortage of HVAC Technicians in the State of Florida. Many plumbers are past retirement age; looking to groom an apprentice to continue their franchise.

When can I start?

Hyphen usually has a new class starting every two months. Please speak to our admissions staff to find out when the next wheel starts.

Do you offer financial aid?

While we do not offer financial aid, we offer high caliber staff and facilities at a modest price.  At $6,165 for the HVAC Technician program, you will be hard pressed to find a school in Orlando of such quality at such reasonable prices.

We offer payment plans so you only need to pay $1,350 at enrollment and the balance can be paid monthly while you are in school. With a payment plan, you will graduate at the end of 4 months without any student debt.

What is the ultimate cost versus a school that offers financial aid

The typical cost of the plumbing program for a school that offers financial aid is $18,000.  If you qualify, the government will give you a maximum of $6,495 in Pell grants which you do not need to pay back.  This leaves you with $11,505 which you need to borrow from the federal government in the form of student loans).


At Hyphen School, the HVAC Technician program costs $6,165.   The total cost of our program is cheaper than schools that offer financial aid because the Pell grant covers only a fraction of the total cost.
