Hyphen Beauty School (formerly Florida Academy of Beauty) will prepare you from no experience to licensed Esthetician working in a spa or an entrepreneur starting your own practice.
Hyphen has two specialized classes for Esthetics. Class sizes are limited 25 students which means plenty of time with our instructors.
Hyphen offers one of the top eLearning platforms for Esthetics. Students attend in-person only two days per week while continuing their studies throughout the week via our eLearning platform.
All lectures and quizzes are delivered online so students maximize hands-on training when they are on campus.
While many schools “inflate” their teaching hours in order to charge more tuition, Hyphen follows Florida Department of Education’s 220-hour curriculum. This means that students graduate and become licensed Estheticians in 2.5 months as compared to other schools whose programs run 4 to 8 months long.
Even though students spend less time on campus and graduate faster, their knowledge and competency of their field surpasses Florida’s standards. Hyphen’s placement rate is consistently over 95% within three months of graduation.
The faster, more efficient instruction benefits the students by way of lower tuition. Hyphen’s Esthetics program costs $4,540 while comparable Esthetics schools charge over $10,000.
220 hours. If you attend classes two days per week from 9am to 7pm, you will complete the course in 2.5 months.
We have two slots for Esthetics classes. Students can work with their instructor to set their schedules within these time slots (ex. daytime only or nighttime only):
We are also building the waitlist for an Esthetics class on weekends (Sat & Sun from 9am to 7pm). If you are interested in this timeslot, please select the WAITLIST option when booking your tour.
We accept Spanish-speaking students as our eLearning platform can deliver content in Spanish based on your preference. Our instructors speak fluent Spanish.
At the end of the course, you will test with our lead instructors. You do not need to sit for a state exam.
No prior skin care experience needed. Students must have a high school diploma or GED by the time they graduate from Hyphen.
$4,540. This includes 2.5 months of instruction, a Dermalogica Student kit, Lash kit and all state board license and registration fees.
Hyphen is a Dermalogica Partnership School so you will be trained in using the Dermalogica line of products. You also have the free option of being certified in the Dermalogica lineup as part of your instruction.
We use the latest edition of Milady’s esthetics textbooks which can be purchased via Amazon. The ISBN numbers are listed below in the FAQ.
Only $600 is due at enrollment. The balance of tuition can be spread out over the program. This equates to $990 per month until graduation. You will get a free set of Milady textbooks if you signup and pay in full using cash, check or Zelle.
Federal student grants and loans do not apply for any 220 hour Esthetics program in the State of Florida. This is because federal funding only applies to programs above 600 hours. However, most students will attest that this program is one of the best bang-for-your-buck programs in Orlando. Most students recoup their tuition within three months after graduation when working in a spa.
At the end of the course, you will test with our lead instructor in the school. You do not need to sit for an external state exam.
As a licensed esthetician, you are ready to work at a spa or to start your own practice. Once you have secured your license, it is highly recommended that you continue with your Full Specialist license as many of the larger spas prefer hiring Full Specialists because of their versatility.
And picture your next career evolution
Hyphen usually has a new class starting every month. Please speak to our admissions staff to find out when the next wheel starts.
As long as you complete all of the topics covered in the wheel, you can work with your instructor on the schedule. For instance, if you can only attend the English class at nights, you should complete every segment of the wheel within 5 months.
Federal grants only applies for programs that are above 600 hours. Since Florida only requires 220 hours for a Facial Specialist license, federal funding does not apply for most schools in Florida.
We offer payment plans so you only need to pay $600 at enrollment and the balance can be paid monthly while you are in school. You will not have any student debt when you graduate
We use the latest Milady textbooks. Please bring the books (or e-books) to your first day of class:
You are welcome to book a tour of the school at the footer of this page. Otherwise, please call our admissions staff at (888) 828 8819 so they can arrange a tour and block off 5-minutes with your future instructor.
